Ringstead Walk - Sunday 15th September

Under Blue skies and warm sun, 8 members had an excellent, if at times challenging circular walk, above and on the Coast path from Ringstead to Scratchy Bottom and back via well-deserved convivial snacks/picnic at Ringstead Beach Café.      See full story...

Affpuddle Walk 25 August

If you intend to walk on 25th August Sue and Dave would really like to know numbers for the lunch stop at Moreton tea rooms. It’s a Bank Holiday weekend so they want to ensure that everyone who wants a meal in the lovely old school rooms there has a firm booking. Their website warns that booked tables take priority and they ‘reserve the right not to serve walk-in parties at our busiest periods’. So please contact Sue and Dave if you intend to walk.      See full story...

Walk Hod & Hambledon Hills 04 August 2019

On Sunday 4 August 10 members met in Stourpaine for a hike by the River Iwerne, then over Hod and Hambledon hills and down to Shroton where we enjoyed an excellent pub lunch at The Cricketers before returning to Stourpaine. Walking weather was just right with light cloud, a gentle breeze and lots of butterflies and bees . A good day enjoyed by all.      See full story...

Walk Sturminster Newton 23 June

I (Babs) am leading the walk on Sunday 23rd June. Its a Fig. 8 in the Sturminster Newton area. Its fairly flat, mostly fields with a bit of lane. Lunch is booked for the Swan in the town centre. I have used them before and as with last time they have asked for a definite number eating as they are busy Sundays. I would be grateful if anyone intending to come and would like lunch to let me know by Thursday (end of) 20th June.      See full story...

A Letter from our Chairman

Hi everyone, I must have been tempting providence when I wrote in the September Newsletter last year, “Heat and humidity did slow the pace of some of our walks and occasionally took its toll on individuals. It was a salutary reminder of some golden rules: Carry sufficient water; Take a small snack to keep up the energy levels and don’t be embarrassed to miss out the afternoon session on a figure of 8 walk if you are feeling drained”.      See full story...

Other Social Events

The quiz walks are proving popular and fun has been had in solving the clues in teams, usually with a good lunch to follow. More villages / towns are being researched and planned – Cerne Abbas, Sherborne and Glastonbury are all available and we feel now that enough time has lapsed since the Dorchester one to repeat this.      See full story...

A Note from our Chairman - January 2019

Hi everyone, So, another New Year and by the way subs are due if you have not already crossed the palm of the Treasurer with silver. If you have made any New Year resolutions, how are they faring? I have restricted myself to two this time and I am backing myself not to break either.      See full story...

Subscriptions 2019

As David mentioned, subs are now due for 2019. It was agreed at the AGM that the annual subscription would rise from £8.50 to £10. This is to cover rising costs for publicity, website and other expenses plus something in balances and this ‘rounded up’ sum makes for easier accounting too! We hope you still feel that you get value for money (it works out at 83p per month!).      See full story...
