The majority of committee felt that evenings in March are still too dark to tempt people out for a get- together, so we will not run the proposed pub meal that was announced in last newsletter. Instead we are floating two ideas for summer which we hope will be of interest for our regular walkers as well as members (and some ex-members) who are now less able to join walks. Dates and details are still to be fixed but Rita and Angie are looking into organising a visit to SCULPTURE BY THE LAKES. Although there is a £10 entry charge (10% discount if group is over 20 people) the peace and tranquillity and beautiful sculptures make this a very special place and the cafe reputedly serves great food. It is nestled in 26 acres of Dorset’s countryside, situated in the village of Pallington, one mile east of Tincleton (nr Dorchester).
David S is hoping to arrange a visit to JHG JIGSAWS LTD. This is one of the last remaining jigsaw manufacturers in the UK and one can visit them in their converted dairy barn in Ashmore.
At least one of these will happen in August.
