Portland Walk in support of Coastline

As some of your members who walk on Portland may know, there has been a long-standing threat of open - quarrying on the "Coastal Strip", the open grassland between Southwell village and Portland Bill Bird Observatory. This threat still exists, despite a very recent out-of-court settlement between Dorset County Council and the quarrying company. Portland's "Save Our Coastal Strip From Quarrying" community group are hosting a short walk on June 5th on the coast path to celebrate all that is special and enjoyed by so many about this landscape. We'd be delighted if Ramblers could join us! Meet at Portland Bill Common (opposite the car park), Sunday June 5th, 11am - 2pm. Thanks very much indeed.
