Summer Outing to Heddon Valley - Sunday 12 June 2016

The 2 minibuses will depart from Sherborne Girls Car Park (Jenny N can provide map) at 7.45am. We anticipate the journey will take about 2 ¼ hrs – please note that this is not a short hop but 87 miles away. Jenny will be sending out further details to all those who have signed up for this, at the end of May / beginning of June when she has done a full recce, but meanwhile please see attached /enclosed menu for Hunters Inn and include this in your payment (slips at bottom). If there are any members and guests who would like to join us there is still plenty of room on the buses – please phone or e-mail Jenny N.

Details of the day - As mentioned above, I can give more precise details of walk after recce in first few days of June. Morning; circular walk from Hunter’s Inn to Woody Bay (turning on lower coast path just before the latter), 5.6 miles, easy paths, one longish slow climb, similar descent, lunch at Hunters Inn. Tim Taylor will take those that do not wish to do the walk either to Lynmouth or to Watersmeet and join us at Hunter’s Inn for lunch. In the afternoon it’s an easy short walk to Heddon’s Mouth, a lovely cove with old lime kiln and we hope that all members will be able to enjoy this bit of beach. There is a NT shop, ice cream, toilets etc. opposite the car park. We will then set off for home, anticipated arrival in Sherborne by 6.30 / 7pm. Cost will be £8 to cover petrol and something for Tim, plus lunch, Please see newsletter for menu.
