Summer Outing

Sunday 12 June - A walk in the Heddon Valley, North Devon

This year’s summer outing will be by minibuses from school to the lovely (and inaccessible by coach) Heddon Valley, on coast between Lynton and Ilfracombe. Although the day is more geared for walkers, there is a very easy walk to the beach at Heddon’s Mouth from the car park, if you’d just like to relax by the sea. The main walk is a circular one in the morning, from Hunter’s Inn to just before Woody Bay, 5.6 miles, easy paths, one longish slow climb, similar descent, great views. Lunch will be at Hunter’s Inn (menu on next programme / newsletter), there is a National Trust shop and loos just opposite the car park. After lunch I’d like to show the walkers the lovely cove at Heddon’s Mouth (2 miles total) and maybe we will climb up in the buses to see the glorious view from Trentishoe before setting off back home. At this stage please just register interest – two minibuses hold 34 people maximum but we are of course not under pressure to fill spaces as we would a coach. Costs will be just lunch + £6 approx to cover petrol and a little something for Tim (other driver) but this will depend on numbers.
